Historial de la NBA
De 1946 hasta 1983 el equipo campeón recibía el Trofeo Walter A. Brown (nombre del primer propietario de los Boston Celtics). Desde 1984 se denomina Trofeo Larry O’Brien (nombre del tercer Comisionado de la NBA).
Originariamente las Finales se denominaban NBA World Championship Series (Series por el Campeonato del Mundo de la NBA), término que dejó de utilizarse en 1986.
